On the night of 31st October 2006, Muslim students organisation representatives and community leaders were invited to Parliament House for a celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Amongst the attendees were representatives from ECU Islamic Society, UWA msa, Curtin Msa and Murdoch msa. The rest were long standing members of the Muslim Community of Perth.

The event was a buffet style informal gathering of around 50 Muslims hosted by The Hon Tony McRae MLA Minister for Citizenship and Multicultural Interests.

Addresses were given by Tony McRae and the WA Premier Alan Carpenter who introduced himself personally to the students. The premier wished to thank the Muslim Community for the enrichment to Australian Society.

A tour of the Parliament House followed the celebration. This included a live sitting of Parliament to vote on the daylight saving issue, followed by a visit to the aboriginal room and the labor caucus room.

October 25, 2006

I have received the following from the Western Australian Muslim Eid Festival (WAMEF) Organizers by email:

Assalamu alaikum Brothers and Sisters

Alhamdulillah we are pleased to organise the biggest Eid Festival yet!  We hope to give our children something to remember, and so they don’t feel like they miss out when they see the non-Muslims have the Perth Show etc.

This year we will have lots of exciting rides, camels, animal farm, show bags (all contents halal and ‘Muslim Friendly’) and lots of yummy food and drinks, and some great stalls where you will find quality Eid gifts, clothes, Islamic books and DVD’s and many other great products.  There will also be Henna Art, Face Painting, and a qualified beauty therapist.  The best part is getting to see all of your Muslim friends in one place!

On the day you will be able to purchase an ‘All Day Pass’ for the rides: $25 for the big kids area and $15 for the little kids area

BUT if you buy your All Day Pass now, you will save!  $20 for big kids and $10 for little kids.

Thursday Night Iftaar - Alwidah

October 20, 2006

Alhumdolillah, according to reports, Thursday nights iftaar was well attended with about 10 brothers and 7 sisters. Food was kindly provided by one of the sisters.

As this will be the last iftaar held at ECU ML, we remind people that they can attend the iftaars at UWA or Curtin. Just drop in at the Musallah at Iftaar time. InshaAllah, next year Iftaar could be held every night with Esha and Taraweeh prayers InshaAllah, Thumma InshaAllah.

Finally thanks to all those brothers and sisters who provided food and helped for the Iftaars.
